What Microsoft Copilot actually includes for sales teams in 2026

Microsoft's sales assistant is now called Sales agent and ships with the $30 Microsoft 365 Copilot license. What it can see depends on setup work the price doesn't cover.

The short answer

In 2026, Microsoft's AI for sales teams is Sales agent, included with the Microsoft 365 Copilot license at $30 per user per month. It brings Dynamics 365 Sales or Salesforce data into Outlook, Teams and Copilot chat for summaries, meeting recaps and CRM updates. Autonomous agents such as the Sales Qualification Agent are separate and run on Copilot Studio.

Why it matters for sales leaders

  • Sellers who already hold a Microsoft 365 Copilot license are entitled to Sales agent, whether or not IT has deployed it.
  • Meeting insights only appear when an external attendee is already a CRM contact, so the tool rewards CRM data that is already clean.
  • Salesforce shops get a new Dataverse environment on first sign-in, and Microsoft says tenant admins cannot block its creation.

Ask what Microsoft sells a sales team in 2026 and you may hear three names for one product. Copilot for Sales became Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales, and Microsoft’s documentation now simply calls it Sales agent. The name matters less than the licensing underneath, which has changed the buying conversation.

What does the license include?

Sales agent comes with Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft’s FAQ says it “is available as part of Microsoft 365 Copilot license,” and the enterprise pricing page lists Sales, Service and Finance agents as included. List price is $30 per user per month in the US and ₹2,495 in India plus GST, billed annually on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan.

Connected to Dynamics 365 Sales or Salesforce Sales Cloud, a seller gets:

  • In Outlook: thread summaries, reply drafts, and saving emails and meetings to CRM records.
  • In Teams: a meeting-prep card, CRM data during the call, and recaps with action items and sales keywords. Microsoft says recording and processing hours are unlimited.
  • In Copilot chat: questions like “summarize account Fabrikam,” answered from CRM data.

What doesn’t the $30 cover?

Mostly setup, and the details decide whether sellers see anything useful.

A CRM administrator must choose which tables the agent can read and switch on account and opportunity summaries. Until then, sellers are told CRM knowledge “hasn’t been set up.” Email summaries only appear on threads longer than 1,000 characters. Meeting insights need the call recorded with Sales agent and at least one external attendee already saved as a CRM contact.

The autonomous agents are a separate line. The Sales Qualification Agent in Dynamics 365 Sales, which researches leads and can email them on its own, needs a Copilot Studio license and Exchange server-side synchronization. Specific Dynamics 365 licenses include Copilot Studio credits that reset monthly and do not roll over. Microsoft advises allocating them to the sales environment, because nothing else stops other agents in the tenant from spending them.

What should Salesforce shops check first?

Four items belong in the security review. Every user needs the API Enabled permission in Salesforce. The Microsoft Power Platform connected app must be allowed, with IP restrictions relaxed, refresh tokens valid until revoked and session timeout set to none. The first sign-in provisions a Dataverse environment, msdyn_viva, to store Sales agent data. And Microsoft’s guide notes that tenant administrators cannot block that environment from being created.

None of this is unusual for an integration, but a CIO asking “can the AI see our pricing?” deserves those answers before the pilot starts.

Who gets the most out of it?

The catch the pricing page skips: Sales agent works best where CRM data is already good. Meeting insights depend on contacts already existing, and saving to CRM depends on records a seller can find. A team stuck at the 40% adoption line gets the thinnest version of a tool sold to fix exactly that.

Channels matter too. The documented surfaces are Outlook, Teams and Copilot chat. That fits an inside-sales desk in Chicago or a key-account team in Mumbai. It misses the dealer negotiation in Rajkot that runs on WhatsApp and phone calls, because none of that conversation passes through Microsoft 365.

What changes next?

Microsoft lists creating Dynamics 365 Sales records through Sales agent for general availability in September 2026. Tracking what follows gets harder: Microsoft is retiring its twice-yearly release waves, and new Dynamics 365 and Power Platform features will publish continuously to the AI at Work roadmap, with the move finished by November 15, 2026. An annual licensing review will miss changes.

What should leaders do this quarter?

Count the sellers who already hold Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses; they are entitled to Sales agent whether or not IT has deployed it. Before buying seats, finish setup: CRM tables, meeting transcription, the Teams policy. Then pilot with the team whose CRM contacts are cleanest, and measure quote turnaround rather than prompts per user. Seats that fail that test are the old unused-license problem under a new name.

Questions leaders are asking

Is Copilot for Sales included in Microsoft 365 Copilot? +

Yes. Microsoft now calls the product Sales agent, and its documentation states that Sales agent is available as part of the Microsoft 365 Copilot license. The enterprise pricing page lists Sales, Service and Finance agents as included for licensed users. A CRM administrator still has to install it and configure which CRM data it can read before sellers get useful answers.

Does Microsoft Sales agent work with Salesforce? +

Yes. Sales agent supports Dynamics 365 Sales and Salesforce Sales Cloud Professional edition and above. Each Salesforce user needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and the API Enabled permission, and the Microsoft Power Platform connected app must be allowed in Salesforce. It does not support Dynamics 365 on-premises, shared mailboxes, or US government clouds.

How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost for a sales team? +

Microsoft lists Microsoft 365 Copilot at $30 per user per month in the US and ₹2,495 per user per month in India plus GST, both on annual commitments and on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. Sales agent is included in that price. AI agents running inside Dynamics 365 Sales draw on Copilot Studio credits, which are licensed separately.

What is the difference between Sales agent and the Sales Qualification Agent? +

Sales agent is the assistant sellers use in Outlook, Teams and Copilot chat, included with Microsoft 365 Copilot. The Sales Qualification Agent runs inside Dynamics 365 Sales, researches assigned leads and drafts or sends outreach emails. It needs a Copilot Studio license, Exchange server-side synchronization, and a choice between research-only and research-and-engage modes.
